Disaster Response Team Needs Volunteers

The Episcopal Diocese of Dallas Disaster Response Team is asking Parishes strongly and prayerfully consider supporting the rebuilding efforts of the Diocese of West Texas. We are concentrating on the coastal areas and the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.

The team is coordinating our mission outreach with our counterpart in West Texas.

We are looking for men, women and youth, with or without specific skills, to spend up to a week on defined projects that have been provided by West Texas. We will provide parishes with the project information and the contacts for the work.

The Parish missions will need to provide a lead person, chaperones, transportation, meals and housing.

We have available all the safety and work tools for these projects and will provide training as needed.

West Texas will provide the project scope and a local coordinator to hand the project to the missioners.

These are exciting times for our diocese. Now that the emergency work of the first responders is essentially complete, there is opportunity for us to give back what God has enabled us to do in making a difference in peoples lives. Reaching out in this manner will change our lives as well.

I encourage all parishes to prayerfully consider how they may support the Disaster Response Team with an upcoming mission trip to the Gulf Coast. Contact the Rev. Keith Turbeville for further details about this mission opportunity.
