Farewell Message From Dabney Dwyer

    Dear Friends,

Most of you know that after the end of the year, I will no longer be working for the Diocese. I am so grateful and want to thank the Missional Church Commission for their service over the years. There are currently seven members, many who have served the entire eight years since the commission was established by Bishop Lambert.

    Susan Fisk- Transfiguration

    The Rev. George Monroe- Retired

    The Rev. Dorothy Budd- Incarnation

The Rev. Mary Lessmann- Saint Michael and All Angels

The Rev. Rosemary Trei- St. Lukes

Anna Houston- St. Augustine’s Oak Cliff

    Rossi Walter- Good Samaritan

This Commission has provided support, inspiration and advisement to help outwardly focused ministry become a priority for diocesan churches. I could not have continued my work without them. Parishes are doing awesome work in the community----food pantries, community gardens, school partnerships including reading and mentoring programs—and much more.

I am blessed to have served many of you and your parishes. I have visited over fifty parishes, facilitated numerous workshops and provided opportunities for churches to get involved in their community, serving those in need in the name of Christ.

One message I would leave you with is to not get complacent with what you are doing now, but to continue to find ways to building bridges to the community…. sharing, caring, loving, serving…..illuminating the light of Jesus Christ.

FYI, I have not retired and I will continue my work in the community primarily addressing poverty and hunger ….and will be discerning what God might have in store for me next. Know that I am always available to assist diocesan parishes.

    Thank you and blessings,

    Dabney Dwyer
