Film Crew at St. Matthew's Cathedral

Film crews took over the parking lot at St. Matthew's Cathedral where they shot scenes for the USA network television series, Queen of the South. Crews filmed an actor outside the cathedral getting out of his car, going up the steps and opening the door. They were also filming inside the Church.

The television series is a new, original show that will be broadcast on the USA network. The network explained the premise of the show this way:

Queen of the South tells the powerful story of Teresa Mendoza (Braga).  When her drug-dealing boyfriend is unexpectedly murdered in Mexico, Teresa is forced to go on the run and seek refuge in America, where she teams with an unlikely figure from her past to bring down the leader of the very drug trafficking ring that has her on the run.  In the process, she learns the tools of the trade and strategically positions herself to become the leader of the Cartel.

Dean Neal Michell said the cathedral got a little stipend for the use of the Cathedral grounds.
