    DALLAS (SMU) – Renowned biblical scholar N.T. Wright is the featured lecturer as Perkins School of Theology hosts “Simply Wright: N.T. Wright at Perkins | SMU” on Nov. 15-17, 2016. 

    The program, organized by the Office of External Programs at Perkins, includes three evening lectures by Wright that are free and open to the public as well as a paid-conference registration that will comprise additional workshops and events with Wright on Wednesday, Nov. 16, and Thursday, Nov. 17. 

    For Wednesday’s morning and afternoon workshops, registrants will choose from a list of six of Wright’s book titles and learn how to incorporate his teachings into the life of their churches. For Thursday’s afternoon workshop, registrants will choose one of six sessions offering a variety of practical topics geared to ministry in the local church. All workshops will be taught by Perkins students and graduates, church leaders and scholars.

    Two lunches are included in the full-conference registration, as well as a breakfast with Wright on Thursday. There also will be a question-and-answer session with Wright on Wednesday afternoon and a book discussion on Thursday of Wright’s recent book, Simply Good News

    Wright is Research Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at the University of St. Andrews who has served in multiple positions within the Church of England – Bishop of Durham, Canon of Westminster Cathedral and Dean of Lichfield Cathedral – as well as university posts at Oxford University, McGill University and Cambridge University. 

    He holds honorary Doctor of Divinity degrees from numerous universities in the United States and Great Britain, including Durham University, Aberdeen University and St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore.

    Wright has published nearly 80 books, ranging from biblical commentaries for “everyone” to academic works including the multi-volume Christian Origins and the Question of God series.
