Open Forums for Strategic Planning

03.30.16 | by The Rt. Rev. George Sumner

    Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Greetings in our risen Lord Jesus Christ.  As I begin my tenure as the seventh Bishop of the Diocese of Dallas, I formed a Strategic Planning Committee to help me study and listen to where we are being called in obedience to His great commandment and commission.  The Committee is working diligently and patiently in this work of discernment, with the goal of having a strategic plan to review and discuss at our 2016 Diocesan Convention.  I have asked the Committee not only for strategic goals but also for actions items to ensure the plan is subject to implementation with measurable accountability.

To that end, the Committee has begun its work with me by identifying specific priorities, and it is now actively meeting with different groups throughout the Diocese.  The principal purposes of these meetings are for the Committee to share these priorities and to listen to the voices of all of those across our Diocese. The hope is that, as a result, this strategic plan will offer a unified approach to carrying forward our mission on behalf of Christ into the world.  In an effort to be comprehensive, the Committee has set up three meetings in April to meet with any and all constituents in the Diocese.  The dates, times and locations of these Open Forums are the following:

    10 a.m., April 16 at St. Paul’s in Greenville

10 a.m., April 23 at Saint Michael and All Angels in Dallas

    3 p.m., April 23 at St. Andrew’s in McKinney

These meetings are expected to last approximately 1.5 - 2.0 hours.

As the Committee progresses, we need your valuable insight and prayers, to help with our work and discernment.  Should you have any questions, please email Mother Betsy Randall, Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee at

God's peace and blessings be to you and all in this Diocese,

    +George
