St. Mark's Slave Cemetery Clean-up

    St. Mark's in Irving is calling all Episcopalians to help in the preservation of the state's oldest known slave cemetery - Shelton's Bear Creek Cemetery in Irving. There are 189 confirmed graves in the cemetery, which sits on a hill overlooking the interchange of State Highways 161 and 183, just southeast of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Clean-up efforts will include painting a fence, raking, picking up trash and removing debris. Bring a rake, gloves, water and trash bags to help out with this important effort scheduled for Dec. 10 at 8 a.m. For more information on getting to the location call Nicole Foster, Director of Christian Formation at St. Mark's at 214-499-5200.
