Talking With Your Congregation About Race and Racism

Thursday, July 9, 2020 - 10:00am - 11:00am via Zoom

Facilitated by the Rev. Dr. Matthew Burdette and Canon Evangelist Carrie Headington

As congregational leaders, how should we respond faithfully to the ongoing conversation about race and structural racism after the killing of George Floyd?  This one-hour presentation and conversation aims to help us continue ongoing conversations in our churches, to lead our members to see today’s events through the lens of Scripture, and to act together with practical wisdom.

Clergy and lay leaders alike are welcome to participate in this event.  To go deeper, our facilitators recommend that participants take time beforehand to read the brief attached essay by James Cone, and to watch an online lecture by scholar Kahil Gibran Muhammad (available here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuaefVqS910).
