Prayer Vigil for Refugee Children

03.23.21 | Homepage | by The Rev. Samira Izadi Page

    Dear friends,

On behalf of Bishop Sumner and Gateway of Grace, the refugee ministry arm serving our parishes, I am inviting you to join a special prayer gathering for refugee (migrant children) and their families. This crucial time of prayer will be held Thursday evening at 7pm via Zoom.

These recent events at our border are reminders for me of my family and I crossing the Rio Grande over 20 years ago. While moving through the rushing waters (I don’t swim), I was nearly separated from my younger son. That kind of fear is beyond words. So, I can empathize with the parents of these refugee children.

As Christians, we not only know that we are called to collective prayer in moments such as this, but we also believe in the power of prayer. God’s desire is always for his people to unite in prayer and “stand in the gap” for our neighbors in despair. Will you please set your calendar to join your prayers with ours as we seek God’s face on behalf of refugees among us and at our borders? Again, this special prayer gathering is this Thursday evening at 7PM via Zoom.

Please fill out this form and we will send you the zoom information.
