Church Attracts Students with Tuition Grants

College students at Trinity Episcopal Church in Dallas are able to get help with their tuition if they are enrolled in local community colleges, trade schools or universities.

Applicants are not required to demonstrate need, however, those who are approved must serve two hours per week supporting a church ministry or a community service organization. Grants are based on participation in Trinity’s programs/ministries or community service.

It’s a good way to bring in students who have not been going to church, the Rev. Oliver Lee, said. “Education is key, it dovetails with faith. You have to have an active faith to appreciate education because education is a tool that God gives us for the benefit of his creation. Our entire being should be focused toward God.”
