The Consecration of the Very Rev. Robert P. Price is scheduled for September 6 at Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney Avenue in Dallas. Doors Open at 8:30 a.m., guests must be seated by 9:30 a.m., procession begins at 9:40 a.m. and the liturgy begins at 10 a.m. Parking details are shown on the map below.
Once consecrated Price will become Bishop Coadjutor and upon Bishop George Sumner’s retirement, Price will become the eighth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas. He was elected decisively in May with two ballots.
The consecration service is one of the most beautiful in the Episcopal Church. During part of the service Price will lay prostrate on the floor to show humility and total surrender to God’s will amidst the prayers of the people.
The Most Rev. Sean Rowe will serve as chief consecrator and an additional 30 bishops from various corners of the globe will process into the service, along with more than 100 diocesan clergy and other clergy from our ecumenical partner churches. The attending bishops will surround Price and lay hands on him as a symbol of the continuing of the passing on of the gospel across generations and centuries.
Special Bishop guests include The Rt. Rev. Anthony Poggo, general secretary of the Anglican Communion; and The Rt. Rev. Felix Annancy, bishop of the Diocese of Koforidua in Ghana. From The Episcopal Church The Rt. Rev. Lloyd Allen, Bishop of the Diocese of Honduras; and The Rt. Rev. Moises Quezada Mota, bishop of the Diocese of the Dominican Republic will also be in attendance. The Rt. Rev. John C. Bauerschmidt, bishop of the Diocese of Tennessee will give the homily.
Representatives of all the people who donated money and items to the ministry of Price will bestow those gifts during the ceremony including a ring, pectoral cross, mitre, robe, crozier among other items Price will use in his ministry to the diocese.
The service will include Eucharist and afterward a reception.
