    Dear Diocese of Dallas Brothers and Sisters,

    I hope you are having a good summer and managing to stay cool!

    I have been pondering this summer the treasure of our diocese – each congregation bringing many gifts. “Though many, we are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” (Romans 12:4-5)

    We have significant gatherings coming up in the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas which we hope you will encourage your congregation to attend. Every year we will hold 2 diocesan wide events: 1) Fall EDOD Parish Leadership Day 2) Spring EDOD Mission Day. We hope all congregations will attend both for these days of mutual encouragement and upbuilding. Please share with your parishes.

    The EDOD Healing Conference is open to the entire diocese. The Rev. Nigel Mumford will teach on the power of healing prayer and the healing gifts of Jesus Christ to His Church. We will learn how to exercise the gift of healing prayer and how to establish a healing prayer ministry at your parish.  We will also pray for all in need of Jesus’ healing touch in mind, body, and spirit.

    The Rev. Nigel Mumford is an ordained Church of England priest and the President and Founder of By His Wounds, Inc., is an author and highly sought after international speaker on the Healing Ministry. Born and Educated in England. Fr. Nigel was a drill instructor in the Royal Marine Commandos. Fr. Nigel has been involved in the healing ministry since 1991 and was formerly director of Healing Ministry Retreat Centers in CT and NY. For more information on Fr.     Episcopal Diocese of Dallas Men’s Discipleship Summit 2022

    The MEN’S SUMMIT  will provide men tools and techniques that will help them live more robustly as disciples of Christ – as disciples who make disciples. The keynote speaker is renown author, international speaker, and chaplain to the Dallas Cowboys, the Rev. Dr. John Tolson.     EDOD Benedictine Spirituality Retreat, October 16-18, 2022

    WHO: ALL EDOD and guests

    WHEN: October 16-18, 2022

    WHERE: Prothro Retreat Center

    Join Bishop Michael Smith, Canon Carrie Headington, Spiritual Director Pat Stone, and Father Bob Corley for 48 hours of retreat on October 16-18 at the Prothro Center in Pottsboro. 

    There will be time for prayer, reflection, conversation, and rest. The theme will be the mission pursuits of Prayer, Evangelism, and Service as viewed through the lens of Benedictine Spirituality. In the Catechism of the Book of Common Prayer we learn: “The Church pursues its mission as it prays and worships, proclaims the Gospel, and promotes justice, peace, and love” (BCP 855).

    In addition, participants are asked to read beforehand Benedictine Promises for Everyday People by Rachel Srubas.

    For laity, bishops, priests, and deacons--all the ministers of the church.
