Around 605 families were blessed the last couple of months and received 24,200 pounds of food from our monthly “From our Family to Yours” Drive-thru Food Distribution.

With the support of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas, Crossroads Community Services, and Oak Cliff Churches for Emergency Aid, Christ Episcopal Church Dallas has thoroughly been enjoying our call to “Feed My Lambs” as part of our monthly Missional and Outreach Ministry of serving “From our Family to Yours” Drive-thru Food Distribution. Preceding the Christmas Season in December and following the 2021 New Year celebration of January, we were blessed to assist so many in our community during this trying time assisting them to have nutritional food on their tables.

During these two months, we provided food for 275 families in December and 330 families in January. Families averaged four individuals of varying ages from infants to tender elderly. Our primary goal and target families were from our church and school partnership with our neighborhood DISD elementary who sent many families in need for these food distributions.

Ready-to-eat lunch bags were provided for the displaced or homeless individuals and snack bags for the children. This totaled more than 2,500 people being fed between December and January.

The number of pounds of food we distributed for December and January was 24,200. This enabled each family to receive an average of 40 pounds of food, including proteins, legumes, vegetables and fruits.

For these distributions, there were 45 church members each month who volunteered to unload the truck and trailer, pack the food in grocery bags, and prepare work stations and place groceries in the vehicles and in the rolling carts of those walking. To all these faithful volunteers, we are very thankful.

People receiving the food expressed they were grateful and appreciative of our concrete love for them. On many occasions, spiritual food was also offered through our shared prayer and dedication of time for them. They look forward to our next drive-thru distribution.

Christ Episcopal Church is indeed humbled by the overwhelming expressions we have received from our community, and we look forward to continuing the evangelism ministry of feeding the body and the spirit just as Jesus did.
