Deep Roots: Growing in Discipleship

Church of the Incarnation is introducing Deep Roots: Growing Deeper in Discipleship curriculum. This curriculum has four Foundation Courses—Worship, Grow, Serve, Lead/Give, that focus on  four mission values. The courses will include fresh content, including the liturgical calendar, sacramental theology, an overview of Scripture, the Gospels’ teachings on Jesus’ compassion for the least of these, the Great Commission, and Biblical stewardship. The program will also have the Canterbury Course which looks at what it means to be Episcopalian today. We hope that these courses offer a common language and framework, and a common set of spiritual practices and habits that inculcate in us the virtues necessary for living out our discipleship.

We have realized that if we want to follow God further into the mission that he has called us, we must go deeper. So, this Fall we are launching our new discipleship and catechism curriculum, which is built around our four mission values of Worship, Grow, Serve, and Lead/Give. Each mission value has a course dedicated to teach about our ethos and values, while also encouraging adding a new activity into their rule of life (e.g.: attend eucharist weekly, go through a Bible-in-a-year plan, tithe, etc.). There is also a new 5th course called Canterbury, for all those interested in learning more about our Anglican heritage or seeking confirmation or reception into our tradition.
