Talking With Your Congregation About Race and Racism
Clergy and Lay Continuing Education Event
10 a.m., July 9 via zoom
Facilitated by the Rev. Dr. Matthew Burdette and Canon Evangelist Carrie Headington
Join us for a zoom presentation on how to faithfully respond to conversations about systemic racism. Our aim is to continue the dialogue in our churches and lead members to see today’s events through the lens of Scripture, and think deeply about how to act together with practical wisdom. Clergy and lay leaders alike are welcome to participate in this event. To go deeper, our facilitators recommend that participants take time beforehand to read the brief attached essay by James Cone, and to watch an online lecture by scholar Kahil Gibran Muhammad, available here.
