The Rev. David Petrash named Diocesan Chaplain for Retired Clergy and Their Families

    The Rev. David Petrash has been called to serve as chaplain to retired clergy and their families for the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas, effective July 1. Petrash has served as rector of Our Merciful Saviour in Kaufman since 2009. His last day at that church will be June 1.

    Petrash has a Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas; and Certificate in Ministry from the Anglican School of Theology. He was ordained deacon on June 5, 2004 and priested on May 29, 2008.

    He has worked as a music instructor, fine arts director, and associate vice president for Admissions and Records at Grayson County College from 1971-2006; hospice chaplain for Home Hospice of Grayson County from 2006-2008; and acting head of school for St. Luke’s School in Denison from 2008-2009.

    He has been married to Laura Petrash for 32 years and they have four children, all married: Wendy Reynolds of Snyder, TX; Heather Jones of Seattle, WA; Captain Don Petrash of Honolulu, HI; and Henry Petrash of Evanston, IL. They also have four grandchildren with another due in May.
