During this event, we’ll network and talk about our vision for youth ministry.

I asked the question recently to our Presiding Bishop, Sean Rowe, what his vision is for the youth in our tradition. He didn’t answer, but turned the query back on me. I didn’t see that as “side stepping” the question, but rather saw it as a gift – an opportunity to explore what our vision is for youth ministry in our faith tradition. I don’t believe we have to have the same vision. We serve different populations in different faith and cultural contexts. I expect our visions to be similar, but not identical and I don’t believe the goal is to come up with one vision for the youth of EDOD. I do believe it is important to explore this topic. I pray this helps you in moving forward with your programming and gives me some ideas on how to best serve you.

I’m also hoping this day will give us some time to reflect, determine what we’d like from this community in terms of collegiality, what type of future gatherings/meetings would be most fruitful, and get to know one another on a deeper level.
