The Stanton Institute for Theological Education, a distinguished ministry of the Diocese of Dallas, extends its reach to students locally, across the Episcopal Church, and to the broader Anglican Communion. Our curriculum is designed to fulfill the aspirations of those pursuing several vocations within the Church:

  • Ordination to the diaconate
  • Roles as lay catechists, evangelists, or other lay leadership positions
  • Deepened discipleship through comprehensive studies in Christian faith, spirituality, and life

Classes at the Stanton Institute are open to all and are held both online and in person at St. Matthew's Cathedral, 5100 Ross Avenue, Dallas, TX, 75206.

Our faculty comprises seasoned clergy and renowned scholars, including the Rt. Rev. James Stanton, VI Bishop of Dallas; Carrie Headington, Canon Evangelist for EDOD; the Rt. Rev. Michael Smith, Assistant Bishop of Dallas; and the Rev. Dr. Victor Lee Austin. We also offer courses in Spanish, led by the Rev. Dr. Ernest Buchanan.

Our diverse courses cover topics such as the Bible, Christian doctrine, ethics, The Book of Common Prayer, homiletics, spiritual discipline, church history, diaconal theology, evangelism, pastoral ministry, and more.
The Stanton Institute stands resolutely committed to the “faith once delivered to the saints” (Jude 1:3), upholding the Holy Scriptures as the primary witness to that great deposit, and maintaining the Great Tradition of historic Christian orthodoxy in our Anglican heritage.

We invite you to discover our course catalog to learn about faculty, administration, registration information, and our expanding library of resources for parish use. Join us in our mission to be transformed by the revelation of God in Jesus Christ.
