A New Call for Canon Jordan Hylden
Canon Jordan Hylden has accepted a call to serve as Associate Rector at Church of the Ascension, Lafayette, Louisiana. Ascension is a historic, mid-sized church with a parish school serving preschool through high school students, and Hylden will be both a school chaplain and parish priest. While he will miss so many friends and colleagues here in Dallas after five years, he felt a strong call to parish ministry and to the mission of Christian education that Ascension's parish school represents.
Hylden's first day in his new post is Oct. 1, and he, Emily, and their two boys will be packing up and heading south after the RADVO conference next month. He will remain canonically resident in Dallas for at least two years and plans to serve as General Convention delegate next summer.
"I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve on Bishop Sumner's staff for these past five years alongside such a great team, and to serve the people of the diocese of Dallas," Hylden said.
Note From Bishop Sumner
Greetings in Christ,
I am sad to see Canon Jordan accepting a new call in the Diocese of Western Louisiana and so leaving our diocese, I am most of all grateful for all he has contributed to our common life. I look forward to hearing of both Jordan and Mother Emily’s accomplishments in the future. And I am consoled by Jordan’s continued help in the work of the Communion Partners.
Peace,
