August 2021 Missions Round-Up

    Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The months ahead in 2021 mark an unprecedented opportunity for the local church to engage in mission. The spiritual, emotional, and physical needs in North Texas and the DFW metroplex are great. People are hungry in mind, body, and spirit and they are expectant.

We want to come alongside your parish and support you any way we can as you care for those in need, make space for people to bring their spiritual questions, and bring good news in word and deed to your community. Do not hesitate to reach out to us to share what you are doing and to avail of the diocesan resources. Contact me at 903-399-3230 or e-mail at

Need to Know Information For Evangelism and Outreach

    1.    ALPHA Training for EDOD Parishes
One of the most effective ways to reach new people who have spiritual questions and for our congregations to go deeper in their faith is The Alpha Course.  The Alpha Course is a 10- week course that creates a space, online or in person, where people are excited to bring their friends for a conversation about faith, life, and God. (www.alphausa.org)

The Episcopal Diocese of Dallas will be holding a training for all interested parishes in running Alpha on August 29th at 5:00 p.m. at St. Matthews Cathedral (5100 Ross Avenue, Dallas, 75206) and September 13th online via zoom at 7:00 p.m. This will provide the tools needed to run an Alpha at your parish or online.  To sign up contact Laura Faulkner

    2.    Be a CHAMPIONS CHURCH for DFW children and youth in poverty
Want to know more about how your church can help break the cycle of poverty for children and youth in our region? Contact Canon Carrie Headington ( ) for ways to get your church involved in feeding hungry children, being a reading buddy, mentoring youth, being part of a thanksgiving food drive and Christmas toy drive and more.

    3.    Poverty Awareness at your parish
A diocesan team is available to come share about poverty in our region and ways you can get involved. We can come share with your vestry, teach adult education, lead a retreat.

    4.    Mission/Evangelism Workshops
Canon Carrie Headington and her team are available to lead workshops on Parish Mission Vision, Sharing Our Faith in Daily Life, and Engaging the Questions of Faith. Sign up your parish to develop an intentional outreach plan and explore together your call.

    5.    PRAYER
The Harvest Prayer Network of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas is a network of seasoned intercessors who are available to come teach on prayer and praying for the harvest. We also lead mornings of prayer for your parish and neighborhood prayer walks.

    6.    DFW Church Google Ad Campaign
Our neighbors are desperately looking online for help, but the Church is noticeably missing from the search results -- until now.  This summer, UNITE DFW is connecting online Explorers in need directly with churches who can help. For training in how to sign up your parish come to our 1-hour online meeting for EDOD parishes. Wednesday, September 15th at 10:00 a.m. To sign up e-mail Laura Faulkner at
