Bishop Sumner: Food Bank Resources

09.17.20 | Homepage

    Dear Friends,

Greetings in our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope this note finds you well.

As many of you are acutely aware, the current need for food and other critical social services has surpassed levels in North Texas beyond what we ever could imagine.  The North Texas Food Bank for example serving multiple counties distributed 35 million pounds of food just from March 20th-June 30. This represents an 84% increase. In addition, those congregations operating food pantries are also struggling to meet the increase in demand.

The following attachment highlights addition services available in North Texas. This is not an exhaustive list, but may help congregations identify other available resources in the community. If your congregation needs more information or assistance, please contact Dabney Dwyer, Dallas Coalition for Hunger Solutions, 214-500-7205 or  . These ministries help to fulfill the Matthew 25 mandate from our Lord at a time of critical need. Please make this information available to your parishioners.
