Book on Leadership Attracts Accolades
Daniel Allen, Missioner for College Ministry & Young Adult Leadership
The book, "Summoned: Stepping Up to Live and Lead with Jesus" written by the diocese' own Daniel Allen, Jr. has been included in the "Forty Books Every Student Should Read" list by InterVarsity Press.
Allen is responsible for the development of ministry to college students and emerging leaders in the diocese. His ministry includes missional engagement, discipleship formation, and leadership development. As missioner, he promotes, encourages and assists in the start-up and expansion of missional ministry on college campuses throughout the diocese.
InterVarsity had this to say about the reading list, "In InterVarsity, we want to see students engage in learning and in thoughtful biblical reflection in every area of life. And one of the greatest resources that we have to offer students is discipleship of the mind through InterVarsity Press books. What follows is a list of ‘must-reads’ for college students recommended by InterVarsity staff as books that will help students grow in their faith."
Allen said he was humbled that his book made the list, and that it honors his passion for guiding young Christians to reach their leadership potential. The book focuses on four areas for development: calling, character, leadership lessons from the Bible and how to strengthen relationships leaders need to thrive.
