Global Pause: An Invitation for the Church

Intercessors throughout our church have been praying for a move of the Holy Spirit in our time. We collectively sense a call for us, as the church, to humble ourselves, to still ourselves, and to seek the face of God.

This COVID-19 pandemic has forced a global pause, where all are quarantined at home.

The church is called to serve those in need at this devastating time. The Church simultaneously  is called to pray, to be still, to turn to God, and to seek God’s face.

This is an opportunity and a clarion call to turn to God afresh.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says  "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

This is a time for the church to prepare, both collectively and individually.

The Lord promises that as we draw near to God, He will draw near to us.(James 4:8) The Lord says, Be still and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10)  In quietness and stillness will come your strength. (Isaiah 30:15)  Banish the old.  Receive the new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Suggestions for prayer intentions during Holy Week, Easter, and Pentecost:

    1. Lent and Holy Week– May we personally humble ourselves, confess our sins, repent, turn from our “wicked ways.” May we die to self and be raised to newness of life with a renewed heart,  in the fullness of Holy Spirit.
    1. Easter Season– With resurrected, Easter lives, may we humble ourselves, seek Gods face, listen and pray for ourselves, the church and the nation:
    • We confess and repent on behalf of our church, our nation, and our global human family. We pray for a collective turning to the Lord Jesus Christ.
    • We pray for renewal of ourselves and unity of the church through the power of the Holy Spirit.
    • We pray and seek God’s Kingdom plan for ourselves and for our church to know Jesus Christ and to make Him known.
    1. Pentecost– We pray the Church be found with “oil in its lamps” ready, open and prepared for God’s move in our time. We pray God’s people will be waiting and available for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost.

“May His kingdom come, His will be done.”

We hope you will join us in this unique global opportunity.
