Letter From the Bishop

    Feast of the Epiphany

    Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Greetings in our Lord Jesus Christ, the prince of peace. In an earlier blog, I cited with approval Reinhold Niebuhr’s claim that we, not only as citizens, but also as Christians, have an interest in democracy.  In the image of God, we are good enough to make it possible, and, by the fall, evil enough to make it necessary. January 6 offered evidence of this, the peaceful transfer of power of the first, and the rioting at the Capitol of the second.

In this new year, let us pray for a renewed spirit of bipartisanship in the face of our many and serious problems. In these days up until January 20, let us pray for President-elect Joe Biden and the Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris. In intercession for our nation, let us use the prayer provided earlier on the diocesan Facebook page by our Presiding Bishop, as well as the prayer ‘For the Nation’ from the Book of Common Prayer,

    Peace,
