    The Rev. Dr. James Detrich

I’m excited to return to the Diocese of Dallas. This is where I was confirmed and ordained, and, most importantly, fell in love with the beauty of Anglican spirituality. The road back hasn’t been easy! But I celebrate God’s faithful provision in always showing me the way.

The way he led me to Church of the Incarnation all those years ago. I was a doctoral student at Dallas Theological Seminary, and I was challenged one day by a fellow student. He observed how I hadn’t lived up to my convictions. So much of what I believed about the church was inconsistent with my current confession, since I was at that time firmly ensconced in a local bible church. That discussion got the ball rolling.

A doctoral degree, a confirmation, a call to Holy Orders—and six years later --  I served with Fr. Turbeville and the wonderful folks at Holy Trinity By the Lake (Rockwall). So many blessings reigned down from my time at that parish. I was ordained a deacon and a priest there, and I gained valuable knowledge in how to lead a church. Holy Trinity was the sending agent for my next stop: rector of St. Andrew’s in Farmers Branch. A sense of pride doesn’t quite articulate the way I feel about what we accomplished together in those years.

I then became the rector of St. John’s in Norman, Oklahoma. It was an experience filled with much joy. And now I'm called to serve St. Paul Ellis County.  When I saw the spirit that’s there at the parish and realized the great potential they have for an even greater vitality, I knew I wanted to be there. Thanks to the Lord of all provision it’s become a reality. I’m excited to begin this new adventure on September 8! LeEtta and I are thrilled to be back serving with all of you.
