I know that you hear Bob and I talk about our experiences going down to the Beto with Kairos Prison Ministry and the faith based wing and our work with One Man’s Treasure when these men in prison-whites are released and it may be a difficult to quite understand why we do it.  I hope you will take a minute to hear just two of those reasons! 

Jacob Reyna is one of the men that we have known since he went through the Kairos program at Beto several years ago.  In addition to being part of the Kairos community there, he serves as an inmate "pastor" on the faith based wing that Bob helps facilitate. Jacob is also a tremendous artist, a talent he didn't discover until he was in prison.  Over the years, Jacob has painted outstanding pictures for One Man's Treasure's different fundraisers as a way to help One Man’s Treasure as it ministers to his fellow brothers- in- white who have come home.  He is in the process of painting a piece for us to sell at One Man's Treasure's August 11th "It's a Blue Dog Night" Blue Dog art show fundraiser at Beaudry Gallery and I am sure it will be another beautiful piece of art.  Jacob’s story is just one of so many that we have been blessed to witness first hand.

Yuri Luckette is also one of the men we have known for years.  He has a beautiful voice and was the lead singer with the Kairos Beto band for years until he decided to step down to let another brother in white be able to serve the Lord in that position.   As I hear Yuri sing songs like "Redeemed," "Come as You Are," and “How He Loves” in a chapel filled with men in white, I know that God is there and he has worked in the lives of those men.  It truly is a blessing!
