Vocation Conference Aims to Inspire
A national vocations conference next month in Dallas aims to attract young adults discerning a call to the priesthood in order to raise up a new generation of clergy to renew the Church.
The RADVO conference has a list of big names on the marquee including, Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury; Michael Curry, the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church; N.T. Wright, Stanley Hauerwas, Oliver O’Donovan and Ephraim Radner. The conference, which is scheduled for September 20-22, at Church of the Incarnation in Dallas, is sponsored by the Communion Partner Bishops, the Dallas diocese, Incarnation, Trinity School for Ministry, Nashotah House and Wycliffe College.
Registration for the event costs $395 and ends August 31. Students have a discounted fee of $195. As part of the conference, Welby will preach during the opening evensong with Curry serving as officiant.
“Our primary goal is to recruit new vocations to the priesthood," said the Rev. Jeremy Bergstrom, who is helping to spearhead the event. “The conference is also for clergy to find renewal and refreshment in their own vocation,” he said. “And It’s a great networking opportunity. We want everyone to come; even lay people not sensing a call to ordained ministry will enjoy learning more about the church and their faith."
